Islamabad driving licence acceptable internationally: police

driving licence

ISLAMABAD: Under the directives of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar and Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Traffic Police have introduced significant reforms, focusing on issuing international standard driving licences.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, the driving licences issued by the ICT police will now adhere to international standards and can be utilized worldwide.

“An internationally standardized driving licence, incorporating two languages, is being introduced.”

In a move aimed at enhancing accessibility and service, the main Traffic Office will remain open six days a week from 9am to 4pm including on Saturdays.

Furthermore, individuals with weekday commitments can now complete the procedure for obtaining or renewing their driving licences during extended working hours, with the driving license branch operating an additional two hours each day.

A special driving school has been established to cater to women, further promoting road safety and traffic discipline among female drivers.

To bolster road safety, an intensive campaign targeting the usage of mobile phones while driving, smoke-emitting vehicles and violations of zebra crossings has also been initiated.

Moreover, penalties for traffic violations have been increased to ensure strict compliance with the law.

For emergencies and reporting incidents, people have been encouraged to download the ICT-15 app, which provides a direct link to seek police assistance at any time.
