Liberty Chowk Lahore set for a makeover as funds approved

LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, spearheaded a crucial meeting at the CM’s office on Sunday, where various pivotal projects took centre stage. The meeting culminated with significant decisions that are poised to impact the region positively.
One of the noteworthy decisions involved the approval of funds for the remodelling of Liberty Chowk in Lahore. The project aims to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of this prominent area, contributing to the overall development of the city.
In a landmark move, approval was also granted for entering into an agreement with a major bank to facilitate the installation of the largest national flag in South Asia. This ambitious project is set to make a striking statement, symbolising national pride and unity.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the expansion and extension of the Lahore Metro Bus Service corridor, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure.
The Cabinet’s decisions weren’t limited to infrastructure projects. The nomination of new board members and approval of the Punjab government’s 2023 policy concerning the allotment of government residencies were also given the green light.
In an effort to enhance regional connectivity, the Cabinet approved the extension of the Speedo Bus Service agreement from Bahawalpur to Lodhran. Additionally, the provision of wheat and flour to the prisons department by the food department was endorsed, ensuring the well-being of those within the correctional facilities.
A significant part of the agenda involved a visit by the Chief Minister and the Punjab Cabinet to the Punjab Dental Hospital. The inauguration of the hospital’s upgrade project marked a commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Expressing a keen interest in the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister directed a review of a proposal to introduce evening and night shifts at the dental hospital. This move is aimed at expanding accessibility to dental services and catering to the diverse needs of the community.
The decisions made during this meeting reflect the Punjab government’s dedication to fostering development, improving public services, and prioritising the well-being of its citizens.
