WEB DESK: Marc Marquez has reignited his MotoGP championship hopes after a dominant victory at the German Grand Prix, reshaping the title race midway through the season.
The factory Ducati rider completed a Sachsenring double after also winning the sprint race. Starting from pole, Marquez controlled the race after two major rivals, his younger brother Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio, crashed out.
The victory marked Marc Marquez’s 10th premier-class win at Sachsenring, matching Giacomo Agostini’s record for most wins at a single circuit. “It was a special weekend,” Marquez said, adding that winning was crucial for his championship hopes.
Ai Ogura finished second after passing teammate Raul Fernandez late in the race, securing his third consecutive premier-class podium. Fernandez took third place.
Title race takes a new turn
Marquez’s win transformed the championship picture after he had been 102 points behind the leader following the Italian Grand Prix. A strong run of victories in Hungary, Czechia and Germany has brought him back into serious contention.
The title race also shifted after Marco Bezzecchi missed the German GP due to a collarbone injury suffered in qualifying. Jorge Martin remains the championship leader, while Ogura moved into second and Marquez climbed to third.
With rivals facing setbacks and Marquez finding his form, the German GP has reopened the battle for the MotoGP crown.
