QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said that there is no writ of the state in the country right now.

Addressing a press conference in Quetta, he highlighted that in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, armed groups are openly controlling areas. He noted that while he was not fully informed about the situation in Balochistan, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the police remain confined to their stations after sunset.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticised the proposed operation ‘Azm-e-Istehkam,’ calling it an operation that will promote instability (Adam Istehkam) and insecurity in the country. He questioned why the country is being further destabilised. He also remarked that Shahbaz Sharif is not functioning as the prime minister but merely occupying the seat, with decisions being made elsewhere.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that where there is a uniformed person present in a meeting, the decisions will be made by the uniformed person. “Did we obtain Pakistan to become slaves to the generals?”

He said, “We are not opposing any alliance; the mutual consultation among political people should continue. Discussions and consultations will yield better results.”

He mentioned, “We need to determine a goal with new thinking; democracy and parliament have lost their case.” He stated, “We want to live under one roof in the country; we do not want to break the roof.”
