Pakistan rejects India’s ‘propaganda’ over Pahalgam attack

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday rejected what it called India’s “baseless allegations and propaganda” linking it to the Pahalgam incident, urging New Delhi to act responsibly and avoid actions that could undermine regional peace efforts.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said that at a time when Pakistan, along with international partners, was engaged in diplomatic efforts for regional and global peace, it was “deplorable” that India had once again resorted to a narrative aimed at linking Pakistan to the incident.

The statement said India was attempting to “weaponise” what it described as a false narrative for domestic political purposes amid an ongoing regional situation.

Referring to past tensions, Pakistan said such allegations were part of a recurring pattern, adding that they could not divert international attention from the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and what it described as denial of the right to self-determination to Kashmiris under United Nations resolutions.

The Foreign Office also accused India of undermining regional peace through “inflammatory rhetoric, repeated provocations and aggressive military posturing,” including its unilateral move to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, which it said violated international law.

Pakistan expressed hope that the international community would urge India to demonstrate restraint and avoid rhetoric or actions that could disrupt ongoing efforts for regional and international peace and security.
