PM directs Punjab govt salaries in par with centre

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the caretaker Punjab government to align the salaries and pensions of the provincial employees with those of federal government employees.

During a phone call, PM Shehbaz and caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi deliberated on the issues related to the remuneration and pension of Punjab’s government employees.

Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Information Minister, stated that the caretaker CM assured the Prime Minister that the matter would be addressed by the provincial cabinet.

A five-day sit-in by Punjab government employees concluded following negotiations with Malik Ahmed Khan, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, who assured the protesters that their demands would be met.
