PM Shehbaz approves various SIFC projects to attract foreign investment

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday approved several projects under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to attract foreign investment.
PM Shehbaz chaired the second meeting of the apex committee of the SIFC in Islamabad.
The meeting was also attended by Army Chief Gen Asim Munir, chief ministers of all provinces, federal and provincial ministers and government officials.
During the meeting, the apex committee expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the SIFC and its strategy to outreach potential investors through conducting seminars and project inaugurations.
The apex committee also reviewed various projects presented by ministries under the umbrella of SIFC.
“At the end, after a fruitful discussion and consensus, the PM gave approval of projects for attracting investments from friendly countries in the agricultural/ livestock, minerals/ mining, IT and energy sectors, and also directed to extend impeccable facilitation to the investors, interested in undertaking and actualising these projects,” said a press release issued by the PM’s Office .
The apex committee held it’s first meeting on July 14. PM Shehbaz had set up the SIFC on the advice of the army chief.
