KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) marks its 57th Foundation Day today (Saturday), reflecting on decades of commitment to democracy, rule of law, and the empowerment of people.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated party workers, highlighting the PPP’s legacy since its founding by Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on November 30, 1967, in Lahore.
The party was envisioned as a champion of equality, human rights, and economic prosperity. Bilawal also paid tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for her courage and contributions to democracy.

Bilawal emphasized PPP’s historical milestones, including drafting the 1973 Constitution, launching Pakistan’s nuclear program, and advancing education and labor rights. He recalled Benazir Bhutto’s achievements as the first woman leader of a Muslim-majority nation, her role in empowering women, and her efforts to strengthen social welfare.
“The PPP has always stood for the marginalized, defending workers, peasants, women, and minorities while striving for a progressive Pakistan,” Bilawal stated.
A grand ceremony to mark the PPP Foundation Day will be held at Karachi’s Nishtar Park tonight.
In this connection, reception camps have been set up and banners have been displayed all over the city.
Events are also planned nationwide to commemorate the day. However, celebrations will be kept simple in light of the tragic incidents in Kurram District.
