Punjab Police intensifies crackdown against drug dealers, thousands arrested this year

Punjab Police have intensified their crackdown against drug dealers operating across the province, with a year-long performance report highlighting significant achievements in efforts to curb narcotics-related activities and ensure a peaceful environment.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, authorities have arrested 26,267 drug dealers and registered 25,243 cases against them during the current year.

The spokesperson said police recovered 13,324 kilograms of hashish, 1,251 kilograms of heroin, 870 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), 557 kilograms of opium, and more than 379,000 litres of liquor from the accused.

In Lahore, 3,746 drug dealers have been arrested and 3,631 cases registered so far this year, the spokesperson added.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed officials to further intensify operations against drug dealers, especially in and around educational institutions and hostels.
