EDINBURGH: World No1 Scottie Scheffler has confirmed he will feature in the Genesis Scottish Open as part of his preparations for The Open Championship, where he will defend his title.
The 29-year-old has opted to skip this week’s Truist Championship ahead of the PGA Championship, but will return to action in July during the build-up to the final major of the year.
“I always enjoy coming to the Genesis Scottish Open and taking on the challenge of links-style golf,” Scheffler said. “It’s always a strong field, and the Scottish fans make it a really enjoyable week.”
Scheffler had a solid outing at last year’s Scottish Open, finishing tied for eighth in a tournament won by Chris Gotterup. This year’s field will once again be competitive, with Rory McIlroy also confirmed to participate, along with England’s Marco Penge and Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre.
The Scottish Open, scheduled for July 9–12, is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, offering valuable points for both the Race to Dubai and FedEx Cup standings.
The Open Championship will follow from July 16–19 at Royal Birkdale, marking the final major of the 2026 season.
