Shab-e-Barat: Sindh Schools to remain closed tomorrow

KARACHI: All schools across Sindh province will remain closed tomorrow (Friday) in observance of Shab-e-Barat. Sindh is the only province that has declared a school holiday tomorrow.

According to a notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, both public and private educational institutions will remain closed on Friday, February 14.

Shab-e-Barat, known as the “Night of Fortune and Forgiveness,” holds great religious significance for Muslims in Pakistan and around the world. It is observed annually before the arrival of the Holy Month of Ramazan.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY ANNOUNCED

The district administration has declared Monday, February 17, a public holiday in Jamshoro in connection with the annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

According to an official notification, all government offices, educational institutions, and public sector organisations in Sehwan will remain closed to facilitate devotees and ensure smooth arrangements for the event.

The Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is a major spiritual gathering, attracting thousands of pilgrims from across Pakistan. The three-day celebrations in Sehwan Sharif include dhamal, qawwali, and religious rituals at the revered Sufi saint’s shrine.

Authorities have implemented special measures to manage the large number of attendees, including enhanced security, medical camps, and traffic control plans to ensure a peaceful and organised event.
