Sherry Rehman rubbishes news about caretaker PM


ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman on Monday dismissed news reports that suggested that the Pakistan People’s Party has agreed on the name of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for the slot of the caretaker prime minister.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with Faisal Karim Kundi, she stated, “No names for the caretaker PM have been shared with us [from the PML-N] and the PPP is committed to ensuring an impartial caretaker setup.”

She said that a three-member committee has been formed for discussion and consultation on the name of the interim prime minister.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi asserted that the PPP was fully prepared for the upcoming elections and the party wants elections to be held on time.

According to media reports, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is considering the name of Ishaq Dar for the caretaker prime minister slot.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already constituted a five-member committee of the PML-N Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq and Saad Rafiq to hold consultations on the caretaker setup.
