HYDERABAD: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) outclassed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 33 runs in a high-intensity IPL 2026 clash, moving back to the top of the points table with a dominant all-round display.

Being asked to bat first, SRH came out with explosive intent right from the start. Travis Head (38 off 19) and Abhishek Sharma (35 off 13) set the tone early, smashing 54 runs in quick time and putting PBKS immediately under pressure.

The momentum continued as Ishan Kishan played a fluent knock of 55 off 32 balls, keeping the scoreboard moving at a strong rate. Later, Heinrich Klaasen anchored and accelerated brilliantly, top-scoring with a powerful 69 off 43 balls.

Despite a decent spell from Yuzvendra Chahal (1/32), PBKS had no answers to SRH’s aggressive batting, as the hosts finished at a massive 235-4.

Chasing 236, Punjab Kings had a nightmare start as skipper Pat Cummins struck early, reducing them to 23-3 inside the powerplay.

However, young Australian batter Cooper Connolly produced a stunning fightback, scoring a unbeaten brilliant 107 off 59 balls, becoming the youngest overseas player to hit an IPL century. He was supported briefly by Marcus Stoinis (28) and Suryansh Shedge (25), but the target proved too steep.

PBKS eventually finished at 202-7, falling short despite Connolly’s heroics.

Pat Cummins was once again the difference-maker for SRH, finishing with 2-34 and making key tactical decisions that kept PBKS under control. He was well supported by Shivam Sharma (2/45) and a disciplined final spell from Nitish Kumar Reddy, sealing a comprehensive win for the Orange Army.
