Stock market to remain closed on November 9 due to Allama Iqbal day holiday announcement

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced the closure on Thursday due to the Allama Iqbal Day holiday announcement by the federal government to mark the 146th birth anniversary of the national poet.

“All TRE Certificate Holders, Staff and concerned are hereby informed that Pakistan Stock
Exchange Limited will remain closed on Thursday, November 9th 2023 on account of
Allama Iqbal Day,” the notification issued by PSX on  Monday read.

Allama Iqbal Day holiday announcement by Federal Government

The federal government on Friday announced November 9 as a public holiday in Pakistan. A notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Friday declared November 9, as a public holiday in the country.

Allama Iqbal is referred to as the “Poet of the East” in Pakistan and various other regions globally. He was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877.
