ISLAMABAD: Traffic on the M-5 motorway was disrupted after high-voltage transmission lines fell onto the roadway during a severe windstorm, prompting the Motorway Police to divert vehicles to alternative routes.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, heavy traffic has been suspended between Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan as a precautionary measure, while entry for northbound vehicles from Rohri and Pano Aqil has also been halted.
The disruption occurred at kilometre 510 of the M-5, where power lines collapsed onto the motorway, affecting the flow of traffic.
To ensure the safety of commuters, traffic has been diverted through alternate routes at Iqbalabad and Guddu.
Motorists travelling from Punjab to Sindh have been advised to use the National Highway (N-5) via Iqbalabad, while those heading towards Punjab can rejoin the M-5 through the National Highway from Rahim Yar Khan, the spokesperson said.
