LAHORE: Principal of the renowned Aitchison College Michael A. Thompson has resigned from his post on Monday over ‘political interference’ in the functioning of the institution.
In his resignation letter, Michael A Thompson stated, “I am leaving the school on April 1st and will not be part of admissions”.

Thomas said that nepotism and politics have no place in the institution’s affairs.
He also told the staff that ‘destructive’ policies have been brought to the college on the whims of a few influential people.
In his letter to the staff, he penned “You all know what’s is going on at the board level. There is no room for politics and nepotism in the schools. Too much interference in the affairs of school being run successfully is unbelievable,” he added.
Efforts are underway to ascertain Governor House’s stance on Principal Thompson’s resignation from Aitchison College.
Founded in 1886, Aitchison is one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutes in Pakistan. The sitting governor of Punjab has a say in the affairs of the college as the president of the board of governors.
