Armed forces commemorate martyrs of September 6

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and the armed forces held a solemn ceremony to commemorate the martyrs of the 1965 War that ensued on September 6, recognizing their sacrifices for the country.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, soldiers displayed remarkable bravery in defending the homeland against “significant challenges”. The Pakistan armed forces successfully countered the enemy during the 1965 War

The ISPR noted that the military achieved a “historic victory” by thwarting the enemy’s ambitions, a success that will be remembered in Pakistan’s history. The 1965 conflict emerged as a symbol of hope, illustrating the resilience of the country during the difficult times.

On the occasion, people from various quarters extended their deepest respect to the martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the country since 1947.

The Pakistan armed forces held a solemn ceremony on the morning of September 6 to pay tribute to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in the ongoing fight against terrorism and in defending the country from enemies.

The Pakistani army reiterated the its commitment to safeguarding the country against all threats. In collaboration with law enforcement agencies, they stand ready to keep the nation’s 240 million residents secure, embodying the spirit of September 6, 1965.

Tributes were also paid to the families of all martyrs and veterans .

President Asif Ali Zardari said in his message to the public that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region. He said the country stood with its security forces to end terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif stated that September 6 was a very important moment in the history of Pakistan. Defence Day has become a symbol of the country’s defence and independence.

He expressed his gratitude to the armed forces for their courage and dedication in defending the country. People in Pakistan are living “free” and “independent” due to the sacrifices of our martyrs.

Shehbaz said that Pakistan can only be protected by keeping the sport of martyrs in “our hearts”.
