Chicken prices shoot up Rs45 in one day

ISLAMABAD: The chicken vendors in and around the federal capital Islamabad were selling chicken at Rs450 per kg on Tuesday morning, a sharp jump from Rs405 on Monday. The customers in the market told HUM News English that the prices of live chicken had jumped Rs45 in one day.

The price of chicken meat had gone upwards even further, showing a Rs60 jump in one day, from being sold at Rs720 on Monday to Rs780 today.

Moreover, the customers also lamented that the chicken vendors decide the prices in the morning even before the DC rate lists have been published. The list is reportedly issued around 11 AM in the morning, but the shops open earlier in the day with chicken vendors deciding the prices of their own choice.

The customers complained that in the absence of proper oversight, they are being charged exorbitant rates, despite the government’s claims of controlled inflation.
