SIBI: In a seismic event that rattled the region, earthquake shocks were felt in Sibi and the surrounding areas of Balochistan, Pakistan.

The tremors prompted residents to exit their homes, with many reciting the Kalma Tayyaba as fear and panic spread through the Sibi region.

Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or property damage resulting from the earthquake.

According to the seismological centre, the magnitude measured 3.5 on the Richter scale, with the epicentre located 58 km southeast of Sibi.

This incident follows last week’s earthquake in the federal capital, Islamabad, and its environs. The National Seismological Centre reported a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale for that event.

The epicentre was situated in the border region of Afghanistan and Tajikistan, with the earthquake’s depth recorded at 137 kilometres.

Similar to the Sibi region, people in Islamabad were compelled to leave their homes due to the fear instigated by the earthquake.

Thankfully, there were no casualties or significant damages reported in the federal capital.

The seismic activity in both Sibi and Islamabad underscores the importance of continued vigilance and preparedness for such natural occurrences. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in these affected areas.
