Entry into Red Zone closed ahead of Aurat March rally


Red zone closed ahead of March 8 rally

ISLAMABAD: The entry and exit routes from two locations of the Red Zone in the federal capital have been closed on Saturday ahead of the Aurat March rally until further notice.

In view of law and order, the entry and exit routes of Express Chowk and Serena Hotel in the Red Zone will remain temporarily closed until further notice.

During this time, NADRA, Marriott and Margalla Roads can be used for traffic. Similarly, the guidelines further state that traffic going from Club Road to the Red Zone can use Seventh Avenue.

A statement issued by the Traffic Police said that for more information, the traffic helpline number 1915 and other social media platforms of Islamabad Traffic Police can also be visited.

In Islamabad, Aurat March will hold a rally from the National Press Club to D-Chowk, despite not receiving formal approval from authorities.

To respect Ramazan, the organisers have decided to keep the event simple, avoiding music and festivities. However, Dr. Bari stressed that they cannot forgo their right to observe Women’s Day, which is held only once a year.

Participants will gather outside the Press Club at 1 pm and plan to march towards D-Chowk around 4 pm.
