Ethiopia and Pakistan agree to strengthen cooperation in the health sector

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan discussed various aspects of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector on Monday, with particular emphasis on joint efforts in research and development.
The discussions on increasing cooperation in the health sector took place during a meeting between Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jamal Baker Abdullah, and the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for National Health Services, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed.
Ambassador Dr. Jamal Baker stated that Ethiopia is now the third diplomatic hub of the world, and recently established a state-of-the-art center for disease prevention, where joint research is being conducted on various diseases, particularly infectious diseases.
The Ambassador emphasized the need to enhance public-level relations in order to elevate bilateral ties to a higher level.
He also mentioned that there are significant investment opportunities in Ethiopia’s pharmaceutical and surgical sectors for the people of Pakistan.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister’s Assistant for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, praised the friendly relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan and expressed the commitment to strengthening ties with Africa, particularly Ethiopia, for the benefit of the people of Pakistan.
