Five labourers abducted

KECH: Five labourers working on a mobile tower were allegedly abducted by unidentified armed men from Hoshab tehsil of Kech district in Balochistan on Wednesday, Levies officials said.

According to the Levies officials, the labourers were busy in their work when the armed men arrived in a vehicle and took them away at gunpoint.

The abductors also snatched their mobile phones and other belongings.

The Levies officials said that they have launched a search operation to trace the whereabouts of the abducted labourers and arrest the culprits. They said that the motive behind the abduction was not clear yet.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

Abductions for ransom and other motives are common in Balochistan, where various militant groups and criminal gangs operate with impunity.
