Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad release

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani politician and former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad has been released after what he described as the “worst six days” of imprisonment, following his detention by Israeli forces while participating in the flotilla aid mission carrying essential supplies for the Gaza people.

Upon his release, Mushtaq Ahmad shared a video message on his Instagram account, recounting the ordeal he and other members of the Sumud Flotilla faced in Israeli custody earlier this week.

“While we were in Israel’s custody, our hands were tied behind our backs, our eyes were blindfolded, dogs were set on us, and guns were kept to our heads. We were physically tortured,” he said in the video.

He added that the detainees went three days without food in protest of their demands.

“We had no access to air, drinking water, or medicine while languishing behind Israeli bars,” Mushtaq said.

Despite the harsh conditions, he expressed gratitude for his release and reaffirmed his commitment to the Palestinian cause.

“Despite all this, we thank God that we have been released. But our struggle for the freedom of Palestine will continue. We will stand against the curfews allegedly imposed on Gaza’s citizens and fight for their fundamental human rights,” he said.

Mushtaq also vowed to continue raising his voice against what he called the “genocide of Gaza’s civilians

“From Adiala Jail to Israeli custody, my resistance for a free Palestine will continue,” he added.

Concluding his message, he said he would return to Pakistan soon, but emphasised that the fight for Palestine’s freedom is a never-ending struggle.

Earlier in the day, Mushtaq Ahmad and around 150 other members of the flotilla were deported to Jordan and other countries, with the Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar saying that he would travel back to Pakistan on October 9.
