ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced on Sunday an increase in petrol prices by Rs9.66 per litre for the next fortnight, aligning with a surge in international crude prices. Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been slashed by Rs3.32 per litre.

Effective from April 1 till April 15, the new fuel prices were confirmed by the Finance Division in a statement.

“The price of Petrol (Motor Gasoline) has risen in the international market over the last fortnight, while the price of HSD has seen a marginal decline,” the statement clarified.

In accordance with the government’s strategy of reflecting international market price fluctuations in the domestic market, the Finance Division underscored the rationale behind the adjustments. “The consumer price of HSD has been decreased once again, following a downward revision in mid-March 2024.”
