WEB DESK: The government and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have signed a written agreement outlining several key fiscal measures and reforms.
Under the new accord, the government has agreed to reduce taxes on salaried individuals. The tax rates will align with those of the previous fiscal year.
Additionally, the government has committed to lowering electricity bills, with a reduction in the price per unit expected within the next six weeks.
The agreement also stipulates the implementation of an effective system for income tax on landowners and landlords. A plan will be established to address the current issues and concerns associated with the existing trader-friendly schemes.
Furthermore, a committee will be formed to address the concerns of traders and exporters.
The delegation assured that the Prime Minister and the federal government are serious about resolving the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) issue. To facilitate this, the government has established a task force to review the IPPs’ contracts.
