Over 230 illegal kilns contributing to smog demolished in Punjab

LAHORE: Brick kilns responsible for causing smog were dismantled in Pakpattan, Bahawalpur, Hafizabad, and Sheikhupura. According to Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, a total of 231 kilns were demolished over the past four months.

Legal action and penalties will be enforced for violating environmental laws, said Maryam Aurangzeb. The crackdown against kilns lacking zigzag technology will be intensified, she added.

The senior minister commended the officers and staff of the Environment Department and local administration for their efforts, emphasising that controlling environmentally harmful kilns and toxic smoke sources remains a top priority.

“To eliminate smog, everyone must recognise their responsibility,” stated Maryam Aurangzeb.
