KP Fisheries Department to lay off surplus employees

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Fisheries Department has decided to lay off surplus employees as unnecessary recruitments have reached concerning levels.
In this regard, a list of employees to be laid off is under final touches
According to the documents,682 employees were hired unnecessarily in the KP Fisheries Department, most of which were hired in Swat. The surplus employees list also includes 490 river attendants and 70 hatchery assistants.

The offices in Swat, Madian, Matta, and Gul Kada employed 611 individuals, far exceeding operational needs, the documents show. Additionally, there are 67 surplus employees in Peshawar, 20 in Charsadda, and 35 in Mardan.
According to Fisheries Department sources, all these appointments were made during the previous PTI government’s tenure.
The department currently has 825 employees, whereas only 143 positions were originally sanctioned.
