Over 30,000 police personnel to oversee the 2024 polls in Lahore

LAHORE: In preparation for the upcoming general elections on February 8, Lahore police revealed a comprehensive security plan on Tuesday.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, shared the details during a press briefing, highlighting the deployment of more than 30,000 officers and personnel across 4,300 polling stations in the city.

Notably, over 4,000 lady police officers will also be on duty during the polling day.

Emphasizing collaboration, CCPO Kamyana stated that the police force is fully supporting the administration and the Election Commission in implementing the electoral code of conduct.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) data, a significant voter turnout is expected, with 6,858,095 registered voters, comprising 3,636,253 males and 3,221,842 females, exercising their voting rights on election day.

CCPO Kamyana asserted a strict stance on maintaining order during the election campaign, warning against the display of weapons, hooliganism, aerial firing, and other illegal activities.

To ensure security, personnel from Dolphin Force, Special Protection Unit, and Elite Force will patrol around polling stations.

In response to potential security threats, special gates will be erected at polling stations, with reserve force personnel providing assistance to Lahore Police on the crucial election day.

Legal action is promised against any instances of aerial firing, display of weapons, or engagement in illegal activities during the electoral process.
