Libya boat accident: Seven Pakistanis confirmed dead

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has confirmed that out of the 16 Pakistanis onboard the capsized Libya boat, seven have died.
According to the FIA, six of the deceased belonged to District Kurram, while one was from Bajaur. Their identities were confirmed through their passports.
According to FIA, 16 Pakistanis were onboard the boat carrying 65 passengers, which capsized near the port of Marsa Della, northwest of Zawiya city in Libya.
So far, authorities have only been able to recover 10 bodies, out of which seven are those of Pakistanis. Search is still being carried out by aid agencies to recover the bodies of the remaining passengers.

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s embassy in Tripoli had immediately dispatched a team to Zawiya Hospital to assist local authorities in identifying the deceased.
In light of recent boat accidents, security checks have been tightened at Faisalabad Airport, resulting in the offloading of dozens of passengers.
Efforts are also underway to gather further details about Pakistani passengers on board. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit to monitor the situation closely.

PM CONDOLE DEATH OF PAKISTANIS
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condoling the incident said reports of a tragic boat incident off the coast of Libya, carrying 65 people, including Pakistani nationals, are deeply concerning.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said he has directed Foreign Office, and Pakistan’s Mission in Libya to ascertain facts at the earliest and keep the nation fully informed.
