ISLAMABAD: A group of unidentified individuals opened fire on a local dancer who was traveling in a rickshaw and died at once.

According to initial reports, the dancer was accompanied by her brother, who miraculously survived the attack.

The Peshawar police arrived at the scene and confirmed that the dancer had been shot dead.

Police officials identified the deceased as Mubina Shahid, originally from Sawabi, and residing in the Khuwaja Town area of Peshawar.

A First Information Report was registered on the complaint of Ahmed Faraz, the victim’s brother. In his initial statement, he said that his sister used to perform at dance parties, which displeased their family, and she had been repeatedly warned to refrain from performing.

Police have collected evidence from the crime scene and are conducting raids to apprehend the culprits. No arrests have been made so far.

Separately, a young couple was found murdered in cold blood in what appears to be another case of ‘honour killing’ in the China Port area of Karachi.

According to police, the victims, Sana Asif and Sajid Masih, were between 25 and 30 years old. Both belonged to Gujranwala and had recently married of their own choice before moving to Karachi.

Police found their bodies with single gunshot wounds to the head, fired at point-blank range in July. Spent bullet casings were recovered from the scene. Their mobile phone, some cash, and passport-sized photographs were also found nearby.

The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal procedures.
