LAHORE: In a bid to ensure hassle-free travel for commuters during Eid time, the Motorway Police have launched a special campaign against the rampant practice of overcharging passengers on intercity routes.
The crackdown, initiated by the Motorway Police, aims to curb the exploitation of travellers by unscrupulous transport operators.

The special drive, commencing on Eid eve, is scheduled to run until June 20, announced the Motorway Police authorities. Special arrangements have been put in place along the National Highway from Lahore to Sadiqabad, with checkpoints established at various strategic locations, including toll plazas, to monitor and regulate fare collections.
DIG Shahid Javed, while addressing the media, emphasised the importance of the campaign in ensuring fair treatment of passengers. “Any vehicle found charging excess fare will be fined accordingly,” he declared. He further stressed the need for passenger vehicles to prominently display fare lists, enabling travellers to be informed of the appropriate charges.
“Complaints related to overcharging and overloading will be promptly addressed,” DIG Shahid Javed added.
