No winter holidays for federal govt staff

ISLAMABAD: In view of the upcoming general elections in the country, slated for February 8, holidays of all federal government officials including educational staff in Islamabad have been cancelled till the electoral exercise is complete.
A ban has been imposed on the holidays of government officials in the federal capital until the February general elections.
In this regard, the Islamabad deputy commissioner has issued an order on the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
As per the order, sick leaves will be granted only in maternity cases or with the permission of a medical officer while all other holidays would not be allowed.

Officials of the federal education system and subordinate institutions have also been directed not to leave the city. The officers and officials should not leave the capital during winter vacation, according to the deputy commissioner’s instructions.
The officials have been directed to remain present at the station of posting to attend the training of polling staff, the DC says.
The order has also asked the officials to follow the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has resumed the training of district returning officers (DROs) and returning officers (ROs) across the country in line with the Supreme Court’s order.
According to the commission’s spokesperson, 144 DROs and 850 ROs are currently under training by senior ECP officers.
The spokesperson added that the training would be completed by December 19.
