Pakistan Day ceremonies held in Beijing, New Delhi

BEIJING/NEW DELHI: A grand flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing. Ambassador of Pakistan Khalil Hashmi hoisted the national flag while the national anthem was played in the background.

Pakistan Day messages of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were read out. The importance of the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940 in the struggle for the establishment of Pakistan was highlighted.

Pakistan’s Armed Forces vow to safeguard peace at all costs

The Pakistani leadership reiterated its support for the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination. The international community was called upon to implement the UN resolutions on the Kashmir issue.

The Pakistani Ambassador urged the community to highlight the positive image of Pakistan. Steps taken for the welfare of Pakistani students and community living in China were also highlighted at the event.

The determination to further promote trade and economic cooperation between China and Pakistan was expressed. Special prayers were offered for the development, prosperity and stability of Pakistan

Likewise, a grand Pakistan Day ceremony was held at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi.

Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires Saad Ahmed Warraich hoisted the national flag. There too, messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out.

Pakistani Charge d’Affaires congratulated Pakistanis and Pakistan-loving people on Pakistan Day and extended best wishes.

In his speech, Warraich said that the historic Lahore Resolution paved the way for a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. “Founders of Pakistan dreamed of an Islamic welfare state based on the principles of justice and equality,” he added.

Tributes were paid to the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. “Since the establishment of Pakistan, Pakistanis and the people have achieved significant achievements on every front,” the Charge d’Affaires said, adding that nsuclear Pakistan’s defense is invincible, “our brave armed forces are a shield against internal and external threats”.

He said that Pakistan believes in the principles of peaceful coexistence and collective welfare. “Renewal of Kartarpur Corridor Agreement confirms Pakistan’s commitment to resolving issues through diplomacy and dialogue. Regional peace and a constructive approach is essential for peace – the path of stubbornness and intransigence cannot be a harbinger of a bright future for the region,” Saad Ahmed Warraich said.

He also highlighted the Kashmir issue, saying, “A just solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is necessary in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.”
