CHUNIAN: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif,  Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen Asim Munir and other officials attended the funeral prayers of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas, who was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Lakki Marwat on Sunday.

Seven Pakistan army soldiers including captain Faraz Ilyas were martyred when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Lakki Marwat District, said a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Sunday.

The funeral prayers of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas were attended by PM Shehbaz Sharif, COAS Gen Asim Munir, Information Minister Atta Tarar, IG Punjab and other senior army and civil officers.

Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas Shaheed belongs to Kasur district.

Captain Faraz Shaheed received commission in Northern Light Infantry of Pakistan Army in 2020.

Captain Faraz Shaheed was about to get married on June 19, 2024.

Captain Faraz Shaheed is survived by his parents and siblings.

Earlier last night the funeral prayer of seven security personnel including Captain Faraz Ilyas who embraced martyrdom due to an improvised explosive device explosion on their vehicle in Lakki Marwat was offered in Bannu.

Corps Commander Peshawar, officers, jawans and a large number of people attended the funeral prayer.

Later, bodies of the martyrs were sent to their native areas for burial with full military honors.

ISPR says the security forces of Pakistan are committed to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and the sacrifices of brave martyrs reinforce the resolve.

President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed grief over shahadat of personnel of security forces who lost their lives after their vehicle reportedly hit an improvised explosive device (IED) in District Lakki Marwat.

The president paid tribute to the martyred Jawans of Pakistan Army and prayed for the high ranks of the departed souls, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release. He also condemned the IED attack by the terrorists and reiterated the resolve of the entire nation to root out the cancer of terrorism.
