ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday appreciated the Rangers and Rescue 1122 personnel for the timely evacuation of people trapped in flood water in Shakargarh.
“I, along with the whole nation, pay tributes to the country’s dutiful personnel”, he remarked.
He said the timely relief actions by the rescue team helped save dozens of lives, including those of women and children. He further directed the relevant authorities to make fool-proof arrangements to handle the possible flood situation in Ravi, Chenab and Sutlej rivers.
He also directed them to get prepared for timely and safe evacuation and create awareness among the people in the potentially affected areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued high alerts for the potential flooding of the three rivers. Medium to high level of flooding is expected in the Ravi river at Jassar within the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, medium level flooding is predicted in the Chenab at Marala, Khanki, and Qadirabad, the PMD says.
