LAHORE: The government of Punjab finds itself at a crossroads as it grapples with the delay in decision of wheat procurement, leaving farmers and officials alike on edge.

Sources reveal that a meeting of the cabinet committee on wheat procurement is slated to reconvene today. Following the session, discussions are scheduled with farmers to address their pressing concerns, according to insider information.

Govt to impose ban on export of chicks

Meanwhile, farmers in Lahore have issued a call to action, announcing a sit-in protest outside the Punjab Assembly tomorrow. Kissan Ittehad Chairman Haseeb Anwar highlighted the plight of farmers in South Punjab, where extensive rain since April 18 has wreaked havoc on crops spanning 640,000 acres.

With wheat procurement delayed, farmers compelled to sell their produce on city streets, Anwar said. He urged the government to intervene to ensure wheat purchases at the stipulated support price.
