Punjab transporters likely to reduce fares


LAHORE: Transport fares in Punjab are poised to undergo a 7 percent reduction following the recent decrease in petrol prices nationwide.

THe Secretary of the Punjab Regional Transport Authority (RTA) conveyed that the Transport Union has been duly notified about the petrol price reduction and has been requested to adjust fares proportionally.

The Secretary of the RTA has confirmed the consensus among transporters to implement a 7 percent reduction in fares across Punjab.

An updated fare list is currently in the process of being compiled and will be promptly disseminated to transport operators. Additionally, clear and visible banners displaying the revised fares will be prominently placed at bus stations for public awareness.

Despite the decline in petrol prices, the issue of inflation persists, and unfortunately, the cost of essential food items remains unaffordable for the general populace. Contrary to expectations of a price decrease, there has been an unfortunate further increase.
