Rain emergency: Sindh evening schools closed, KU papers cancelled


Sindh Schools closed

KARACHI: Evening schools throughout the Sindh province will remain closed Friday while the Karachi University has also cancelled all its papers scheduled for today due to possibility of heavy rain.

The Met Office forecast heavy rainfall with wind and thunderstorms is likely to hit Karachi and will continue till March 1.

The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, in a notification, said all private and public evening shift schools would remain closed.

Meanwhile Karachi University has cancelled all exams scheduled for today (Friday) in view of the heavy rains predicted in the province

According to KU spokesperson, the cancelled exams will now be held on March 7.

No change in venue and timings will be made.

In response to the weather forecast, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah declared a rain emergency in the province. He chaired a meeting to discuss the weather situation and directed all local bodies, administration, and hospitals to be on high alert.

As a precautionary measure, half-day duty was declared for all government and private institutions in Karachi on Friday considering the expected rainfall situation.
