Rawalakot prison escape update: two more re-arrested

RAWALAKOT: Rawalakot police have recaptured two more prisoners who escaped from Rawalakot District Jail. This brings the total number of recaptured prisoners to six, as confirmed by SSP Poonch.

More than 15 high-profile prisoners escape Rawalakot jail

The escape occurred on June 30, when over 15 high-profile prisoners fled the facility after taking the jail staff hostage at gunpoint. During the escape, one prisoner was killed in a shooting incident.

Authorities have also detained seven jail staff members, including the Deputy Superintendent of the jail, for their involvement in the escape. An investigation is currently underway.

The prisoners who escaped were serving life sentences or facing death penalties. The police have released a list of the escaped individuals and are actively working to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
