Respite from heat: Rain predicted in most parts of the country

ISLAMABAD: With some relief in sight from crippling heat, the Met Department has forecast that there is chances of rain in certain regions in the evening, which might bring some relief.

According to the latest reports, northeastern Balochistan and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive rain. There may also be drizzle in central and southern Punjab as well as upper Sindh.

Additionally, there is a possibility of rain at a few places in the Potohar region and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Islamabad and the surrounding areas, the weather is expected to be hot and partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 37 degrees Celsius. 

The temperatures in other major cities are also anticipated to rise, with Lahore reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius and Karachi up to 35 degrees Celsius. The southwestern cities of Turbat and Gwadar might experience extreme heat, with maximum temperatures soaring to 48 degrees Celsius.

Lahore is currently recording a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature predicted to rise to 40 degrees Celsius today.

The city will experience partly cloudy weather with a 50 percent chance of rain, providing a possible respite from the heat. However, the Met Department has warned that the heat is expected to increase in Lahore from next week.

The weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid during the next 24 hours, however, there was a possibility of rain with strong wind and thunder today evening or night.

The PMD recorded the lowest temperature at 30.5°C and predicted the mercury to rise between 36°C and 38°C maximum in the metrolopolis.

“The humidity in the air is 75%,” said the meteorology department.

“Mercury may rise from 37°C to 39°C on Sunday, while it could rain the same day in the evening or night. Mercury could touch 40°C on Monday,” the PMD said.

Meanwhile, light rain is expected in parts of Jacobabad, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Thatta by tonight.
