Schools in Sindh to reopen today after summer break


Schools across Sindh will reopen today following an extended summer vacation, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department announced.

KARACHI: Schools across Sindh will reopen on Thursday (today) following an extended summer vacation, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department announced on Wednesday.

As per the Sindh Education and Literacy Department, both public and private schools will commence the academic year as scheduled.

The provincial education department finalised all necessary preparations for the new school year. Previously, schools were set to reopen on August 1. However, due to extreme heat and monsoons, the department extended the summer break until August 14.

The Sindh Education Minister asked students to approach their education with “renewed focus” and determination. In his statement, the minister implored the teachers to uphold their responsibilities with “integrity”.

The provincial minister also discussed the progress in Sindh’s education system, crediting the improvements to the merit-based recruitment of teachers.

A new policy for education in Sindh was also introduced, with the education minister noting that the province was at the “forefront” of implementing a teachers’ licensing system and other educational reforms.

The minister stated that such measures would continue to be a priority in order to improve the quality of education in the province.
