Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi ahead of PTI protest

RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema has imposed section 144 in Rawalpindi till November 26, ahead of PTI call for protest on November 24.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema chaired a district intelligence committee meeting where evidence of potential unrest near Adiala Jail and other areas of Rawalpindi was reviewed.

Mobile services likely to be suspended ahead of PTI protest

Based on these reports, the DC issued a notification imposing Section 144 in the district, effective until November 26.

According to the notification, public gatherings, rallies, and assemblies of more than four people have been banned in light of concerns regarding unrest, extremism, and terrorism.

It is noteworthy that PTI founder Imran Khan, currently incarcerated, has called for nationwide protests on November 24.
