WEB DESK: In a recent decision, the Sindh Government has officially declared a public holiday for all schools and colleges on Monday, February 26, 2023, in observance of Shab-e-Barat.
The announcement came following a decision made during the Steering Committee meeting.
According to a notification issued by the Education Department, both public and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the College Education Department will remain closed on Monday, February 26, 2023, marking the significance of Shab-e-Barat, also known as the 15th Shaban in the Islamic calendar.
Shab-e-Barat holds special importance for Muslims in Pakistan and across the globe. Often referred to as ‘The Night of Fortune and Forgiveness,’ it precedes the holy month of Ramzan.
Believers approach this night with profound religious fervour, engaging in acts of worship and devotion.
On this auspicious occasion, the faithful gather in mosques to offer nawafil (voluntary prayers) and partake in special prayers for the well-being of the country.
As the community prepares for the spiritual significance of Shab-e-Barat, the educational institutions’ closure serves to allow students and faculty to observe this sacred occasion with reverence and devotion.
