Will contest election if get PTI ticket: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Asad Umar has expressed his desire to contest election on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket if his former party awards him the ticket.
In a statement, Umar, whose basic membership was suspended by the party after he announced to renounce all his positions in the PTI following his release from jail, said that the PTI’s preparations for the general election were complete and that it was a constitutional responsibility to hold polls.
He said that the Election Commission of Pakistan will have to create “an atmosphere of trust for elections”.
Earlier, former federal minister Fawad Chaudhary also announced to contest national and provincial assembly elections from Jhelum.
Meanwhile, Asad Umar, booked by the Islamabad’s Margalla police for his alleged involvement in the May 9 riots, will appear before a sessions court in Islamabad. The sessions court has summoned the PTI leader in the riots case.
