LAHORE: Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Amara Athar, has announced that strict action will be taken against motorcyclists travelling without valid driving licences.

Those found in violation will be fined, and their motorcycles impounded until a valid licence is obtained.

According to CTO Lahore, Rs2,000 fine will be imposed on individuals riding motorcycles without a licence. The impounded motorcycles will only be returned once the rider presents a valid licence.

CTO Amara Athar also mentioned that the fee for obtaining a motorcycle licence is Rs930. In addition, the 42-day validity period for learner permits has been abolished, making it mandatory to obtain a full licence before operating a motorcycle.

The CTO further stated that 10 driving licence testing centres have been established in Lahore to facilitate the public. This year, over 500,000 citizens have benefitted from the licence services provided by the traffic department.

The move is part of a broader effort to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic regulations in Lahore.
