Woman arrested for alleged abduction of baby from hospital

KARACHI: An unidentified woman has been arrested by Karachi police after a newborn girl was abducted on Saturday from the maternity ward at Jinnah Hospital in Karachi.

The baby’s parents, nominated the head of security of the ward, as well as the staff in charge for the incident during a protest staged against the hospital administration, demanding a transparent investigation of the kidnapping.

Officials confirmed that some of the nominated people were taken in by Karachi police for investigation.

The arrested woman allegedly bypassed security by pretending to be a close relative of the baby’s family.
