Even without JUI, the government had enough numbers to pass the amendment in parliament, PPP Chairman said
ISLAMABAD: The task of passing 26th constitutional amendment would not have been possible under any other chief justice, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in an interview to BBC. “Attempts were made to make Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa controversial”, he added.

PPP Chairman said that the parliament approved the 26th constitutional amendment. “A new Chief Justice has been appointed under the 26th Constitutional Amendment,” he added.
“The approval of the 26th constitutional amendment before October 25 was a big task,” PPP Chairman said. However, he added that the amendment would have been approved by the parliament even without the support of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
“We had enough numbers to approve the constitutional amendment,” Bilawal said.
