ECP issues certification to PPP post intra-party elections

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday formally recognised the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) intra-party elections through an official notification, validating the party’s April 12 electoral process.

According to the ECP’s published certificate, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was elected unopposed, along with other key office-bearers namely Humayun Khan as Secretary General, Nadeem Afzal Gondal as Information Secretary, and Ameena Pracha as Finance Secretary – all securing their positions without opposition.

The commission’s validation comes after PPP conducted its mandatory internal elections last month, maintaining continuity in its leadership structure.

Meanwhile earlier in March, a three-member bench of the ECP, headed by Member Sindh Nisar Durrani, presided over the hearing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) intra-party elections case. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and the complainant Akbar S Babar had appeared before the ECP along with other parties concerned.
