Elahi to media: “not allowed to address media”


LAHORE: Talking to media during his appearance before the Lahore High Court, President of Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Chaudhry Parvez Elahi lamented that he could not hold a news conference because “he is not allowed to hold meetings with anyone.”

While responding to a question regarding parting ways with PTI, he said, “I have been produced before the court in a bad state of health , how can I speak to media?” He alleged that “he was kept in a small prison cabin with a faulty fan for last ten days despite his ailment.”

LHC was hearing a case against Parvez Elahi for alleged corruption in recruitments in Punjab Assembly. The court, while accepting the petition of Elahi, suspended the sessions court’s earlier order against him and issued notices to the litigants for June 27.

In a separate case at another session court, the former CM’s counsel requested the court to quash prosecution’s appeal for grant of judicial remand, making the LHC decision as grounds

the court reserved the judgment and adjourned the hearing of the case till the presentation of LHC’s order.
