Ice melts: Imran Khan confirms talks with army chief

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan confirmed talks between party chairman Gohar Ali Khan and army chief Asim Munir dubbing it a “positive development.”

PTI chairman Gohar Ali Khan had denied a meeting with the army chief a day earlier.

In an informal chat with reporters in the courtroom of Adiala Jail, Imran Khan was asked if a meeting between PTI chairman and army chief was held. Imran Khan at first reluctantly replied he had no details in this regard.

However, later he confirmed the meeting and said that this is a positive development and is good for the stability of Pakistan.

“We had never closed the doors of negotiations. The establishment should talk to us. I am an advocate of talks. But the other side was reluctant”, Imran Khan said.

Now if talks have begun, they will be for Pakistan’s stability, he said.

BARRISTER GOHAR CONFIRMS MEETING WITH ARMY CHIEF

Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar confirmed that he along with Ali Amin Gandapur, held a private meeting with the army chief.

He stated that all PTI matters and demands were presented to the Army Chief, along with their concerns.

He added that discussions during the meeting focused on national stability, and they received a positive response from the other side.

Direct negotiations with the establishment are a welcome development, and there is hope that the situation will now improve.
